Something Old, Something New, But Always Blue

Happy New Year.

Man, seriously where did the time go? The last few months have just flown by. But here we are again. New year, new hopes, new possibilities.

I’m looking back at my DA page, and this page that I’ve called home that you’re presently on (at least until ya find the back button) is almost at 500,000 views. Now I’m not really one for numbers like that. And I know that there are people out there who have long since surpassed that, well into the millions. The only difference between me and those artists is those artists are good. I mean, not to put myself down or anything but I hardly do anything worth noting and I still get all this attention. I’m practically a politician.

I’m just getting back from a brief holiday trip home. And it was good. It wasn’t amazing, it wasn’t horrible. In the grand scale of things it was just a nice break. And now that I’m back I’m raring to resume normalcy. Or at least as close as normal will come near me (what with the restraining order and all )

I’ve got one more week of off the wall hours at work and then I’ll possibly be easing down into something more… ‘manageable’. I hope. Not that I mind sixteen to twenty hour days, but it does take its toll after a while.

But onto more prominent matters. I’m looking to start picking up the slack art wise as soon as work pans out. I fell behind more than I ever dreamed of over the last two or three months, leaving several generic and holiday related works unfinished. The holiday ones will keep till next year. But I really want to start getting back in the swing of things on everything else.

I’m just about ready to start on the next chapter of my fic Broken Spirit. And while there’s still a good deal of interest from my readers, it feels like it might be losing momentum. I do my best to keep the updates manageable on a regular timetable. But I can only do so much in a day. And of all my readers, that seems to be the most common topic of discussion. I suppose the upside is I leave them wanting more. (I hope I’m not habit forming)

Also I was recently struck with a new idea for a project. Does anyone watch the youtube videos, ‘Epic Rap Battles of History’? Well, I certainly have taken a shine to them. And I’m not even big into rap. But I admire the quality and consistency they bring to the table. And they’re always fun to watch.

Well, anyone who knows my works in the past knows I enjoy a bit of poetry/rhyme from time to time. So what would you think about a rap battle of fandom proportions? A tribute if you will with my own personal touch. I’d like to do…

Wait for it…

Terra vs. Raven

Shocker, I know. But my main quandary is how I should go about doing it. I already have the verses written. So should this be a straight up text only submission? Or would you favor a more constructed piece with a few illustrations?

I was considering comic form originally, but think that might be a bit excessive and cramped for something like this.

One other concern I have is igniting any kind of hostilities. I know first hand how passionate some fans can be. Especially when Raven and Terra are thrown into opposing conflict. Just know that I want this to be as close to a fair fight as I can manage. And no, it’s not gonna be a shipping war. I am peppering BB into the mix, but no more than one verse apiece. I want this battle to focus on the characters, not their pairings.
